I don’t know what these ugly-ass shrubs are called, but they are all over the place here in So Cal.
However. they have these fabulous little berries that grow in clumps on them. Did you know that you can paint live plants? Yep.
I don’t remember what the original color of this little metal piece was. It covers up a poorly placed (and very ugly) alarm keypad by our door. I spray paint it often. It was gold with Mod-Podged text for Christmas.
Yesterday I peeled off the letters, lightly sanded it (because of the glue) and painted it silver. I painted some of the swirls pink and then quickly wiped the paint off so that there is just a hint of it. A little glitter, a subtle Mod-Podged heart and it’s ready for Valentine’s Day.
The fun part was the berries. I left a couple sprigs red, but spray painted the rest pink. Then I sprinkled just a little glitter over them. The sticks that were gold are now white with glitter. Still winter-ish, but with an eye turned towards Spring.
This was our window ledge at Christmas.
I pulled out the pine boughs and gold sticks and added new greenery, a few red, white and pink florals and a bow. Viola.
Cheap, easy and took me about 20 minutes to do.
Oh spray paint, how I love thee.
