I love fall. It’s my favorite time of year. Post 9/11, fall officially begins on September 12th at my house. Americana and seashells get put away and the fall stuff comes out.
I hate my mantel. It is a wacky, asymmetrical thing with a vaulted ceiling and a fireplace that is centered on the room, but not on the mantel. I’m a symmetry girl, so this gets me twisty. (I also hate the dark woodwork, the brick and the brass, but can’t do anything about it at the moment…)
The Nester is having a link up for Fall Mantels. I’m going to link up to it so that I can get some inspiration, but also in hopes that someone (anyone!) will help me out and give me some suggestions.
This year I’m straying from normal fall colors and find myself drawn to whites, creams and silver. I’m a mercury glass junkie, so I use it whenever possible.
I took a big road-kill picture frame and painted it silver.
These white pumpkins were ones that I painted copper last year and put my house numbers on.
The numbers are turned to the back. Different shades of white and cream….
And a really healthy coat (or 6) of shiny lacquer and I’ve got re-vamped pumpkins.
I don’t know what to do. (Maybe I should move?)
