You guys!!?? I am so excited that I couldn’t sleep last night!! Want to know why?
For two reasons:
One, I am guest posting at Scissors & Spatulas today. If you haven’t been to Jen’s blog, you are missing out! She has done an amazing kitchen remodel, turned a simple clutch purse into a one of a kind accessory, made a gorgeous bench out of a forgotten family heirloom.
My very dear friend Jodi is moving into this house!
It’s gorgeous, right?! pfft. Not
Well, not yet anyway… Circumstances have it that Jodi & the Love of Her Life, Rick, are moving into a house that they had been renting out for a long time. The renters are moving out and Rick & Jodi are moving in.
I. Get. To Help. Make. It. Preeeetttttty! I’m so excited! What gives them nightmares right now feels like Christmas Eve to me!!
Two years ago, Jodi turned me loose in her previous house and I had a blast re-doing it for pennies on the dollar! You can read the whole thing HERE, but this can give you a quick idea of what we did with about $250…
Rick is an avid sailor and so we were thinking of going with a sort of beachy/nautical inspired decor. I started a Pinterest board for them.
Can I just say again how much I love Pinterest and how great it is for things like this…?
So many times I have an idea or concept in my head that I can’t adequately describe. Pinterest helps to convey the concept visually, (especially helpful when trying to convince a skeptical husband to let you go in a certain direction…)
Not only do I have individual Pinterest boards for holidays, home inspiration, etc, but you can also set up collaborative boards and invite other people to pin to them. I am helping with an upcoming event at my church and I have a board for that too. Other members of the team can pin to it. It helps everyone to be on the same page as far as concepts and design.
So back to the house… I took these pictures yesterday and added in my immediate suggestions for them.
There’s a terrible living room, with a wacky asymmetrical mantel from hell and a terrible soffit (that needs to go!).
There is an ugly kitchen…
With an awkward, um, I don’t know what this is supposed to be…
The bedrooms need some serious TLC
Oh! And the backyard needs a lot of work, but it has tons of potential!
This sad little house is getting a make-over and I will be updating as we go… Having the Pinterest board to look at as we go will be so helpful! This is gonna be fun!!
(If you don’t yet have an invitation to Pinterest, I am happy to send you one, I will just need your email address to do so.)
