It’s September, but I’ve already started organizing and planning for a camping trip we’re taking next July. Camping is already super economical but with just a bit of planning ahead, it’s even more so.
Target, Walmart, sports stores, hardware stores… they’ve all put their camping and outdoor equipment on clearance. If you need them, now is a good time to replace or acquire some bigger ticket items like tents, stoves, or sleeping bags.
Even if you’re not a camper, it is a great time to stock up on smaller items that you can use on any trip: Mosquito repellent, sunscreen, beach towels, and charcoal, or even seasonal items like marshmallow roasting forks and plastic dinnerware. (Just be sure to check expiration dates on things like sunscreen or mosquito repellent.)
Because I keep track of what we had too much of or what we ran out of, I am better able to snap up some good deals on the things we need the most.
So how do you stock up on this stuff and know where you put it (or remember that you even have it!) when it’s time to pack up for your next trip…?
- Get yourself a big bin or tote box and put your new items in it.
- Take note of your new supplies.
- Put the note somewhere where you’ll find it again.
- Be ahead of the game for your next trip.
