The Great Halloween Party Wrap Up (2011 edition)

November 3, 2011 16 Comments

I love hosting parties and dinners.  I love getting ready for them and creating special little details.
I love my friends and family so, so much, and I’d really like to be able to say that all those little details are for them and for them only… but that wouldn’t be completely true.
Creating the details brings me a lot of joy, so quite a bit of it I do for myself, because I have so much fun doing it.

Beverage Napkin Hurricanes

I think that is my hobby: Unnecessary Details

I showed you how I made the invitations for our party.  During the month of October, I showed you some of my favorite DIY decor pieces: my Punk-In, my Poe Inspired artwork and my Raven Wreath to name a few…  but it all is leading up to our party.  Here’s the link to last year’s party.

Get ready for picture over-load….

My favorite part of the decor was my wall ‘o frames.

so, so sorry for the blurry photo… I want a new camera.

Every single one of these frames was from a thrift store, or picked up on the side of the road next to someone’s trash can.  I spray painted them with Krylon’s silver metallic paint and hung them from our patio cover with fishing line.   I hung glass jars and votives too, positioning them so they looked like they were floating in the middle of the frames.

Behind that?   Black crepe paper streamers from the Dollar Tree.
I cracked, then cut open glow sticks and poured the fluid into the jars.  I got the idea from my friend Rose, who got the idea here.  The total cost for this wall? $10.

I added some Halloween vignettes throughout the house…

And had tons of candles!

There were lots in the front yard too, but I didn’t manage to get any pictures.

The little details and decorations aside, the most important element of any good party is friends.

Handsome Hubby and I didn’t coordinate our costumes this year.  He was a scary, skeleton pirate and I was some sort of a vampire/witch hybrid.  All I know is that my hair was massive and it took me several shampoos and lots of conditioner to get all of the hairspray and knots out of it.

There were lots of fun costumes!  Unless water-marked, all photos are courtesy of my friend Paula and her husband Tim… aka Mud & Swiffer.  Theirs were my favorite costumes of the evening.

She made her costume by taking a basic LBD and covering it with that Great Stuff and then coating it with a brown spray paint.  She had gloves too. It was awesome!

Here are some more great costumes…

As previously mentioned, we had Mud & Swiffer, but also Gru and a Minion (Despicable Me, anyone…?) Some very cool folks circa the 60’s, some jailbirds….

We had Jack Skellington and Sally…

A couple of Red Cups…

Amy Winehouse…

And a few pirates, people from Oz, some pajamas and a trekkie…

And even jello-shots to take us back to our college days…

And of course, no party is complete without an opportunity to shake, shake, shake – shake, shake, shake – shake your booty.
Gru played the music and Sally was unstoppable.

It was just a fun night in general!

I’ve already started thinking about next year…
However, the next morning…?  Not pretty.
Just keepin’ it real.
Hope everyone had a great Halloween!
By the way, my friend Shawn at Seriously is hosting 30 Days of Thankful
Manic Mother
and I would just like to take this opportunity to say that I am so thankful for my friends! Not just the ones I see everyday, but the ones I’ve met in the blogging community.  Who knew?  (But thank you.)

You should get paid for finding and creating the ideas you have so far.. you really are a craft talent!! All I could muster up was some creepy looking skeleton and fake webbing for the front of our house. Look forward to see how you do it up for Thanksgiving time!

Janette brought up a good point. You are so talented.

It looks like a SUPER fun party. I’m sad I don’t live closer.

    YOU LOOKED HOT! Super sexy!

I partied with Amy too! Mud and Swiffer–BWHAHAHAHAHA!

Now all I can think about is making some jello shots.

I’m going back up to look at the pics again…

I’ve loved all your Halloween ideas. I love on this post how you put the pictures in groups of 4 or 9 etc.-is there an easy way to do that?

Look at your legs in that costume! You are seriously one hot Mamma!

It looks like you had an amazing party, one day I’ll crash it in full disguise and make you figure out who I am.

I too am so very thankful for my friends that I don’t get to see very often. I’m counting down until May!
