You never know when your number’s up. Or when that lesson hits home for your kids…

How quickly life can change.

Or end.

My husband took the boys to an Angels game last night. They watched 22 year old rookie pitcher, Nick Adenhart, pitch a 6 inning shut out. (The best of his professional career so far.) We watched the highlights on the news last night after they got home.

This morning, we woke to the news that Nick Adenhart was killed in a hit and run car accident shortly after leaving the stadium.

The boys are stunned. How can someone be so healthy? So vibrant? So… alive? And then they’re dead? Just like that?

“But we just saw him!”

I know guys. That’s why you try to treasure every moment, and never take anything or anyone for granted.

What a tough lesson for a Thursday morning. 🙁

Wow, that IS awful!! How hard for your boys to absorb & understand. Hoping that they can handle it okay. What a hard lesson, and unfortunately a very good teaching moment. Thanks for sharing.

And thanks for following! So glad to meet you! 🙂 LOVE your story.

You’re the first person I’ve “met” who loves A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. Gosh I love that book and could read it every week! 🙂

I have chills… That is so sad. Yes, a hard lesson, but that is why we should all live each day to the fullest. I feel so sorry for his family and friends.

Ohmygosh. I read about this yesterday on MSN. My husband is a huge MLB follower, so we talked about it last night again. So sad. It is so true. We treasure each moment and never take anything for granted.

It’s always such a shock when someone you know, or are familiar with dies suddenly, and unexpectedly.

It’s definitely a reminder to not take anyone or anything for granted!
