6 Yellowjackets and 1 Squirrel….

September 23, 2009 23 Comments

Ahhh. Soccer season. Fall weather (um… not in So Cal), cheering on your kids, enjoying the company of other parents (usually….)

Unless you are Grant’s mom.

If you are Grant’s mom, for every photo of him in the pack’o’players running after the ball….
little soccer players

(he’s #4)

….there is one like this.

…or this….

(Who knew a drawstring on one’s shorts could be so fun!?)

….or this.

The ball is on the other end of the field. He is just going through the motions of what he would do if he were near the ball.

Or he thought he’d throw himself on the ground and roll.

Or, since they’re the Yellowjackets, he thought he’d be a yellowjacket as he ran.

When done “flying” I guess yellowjackets shoot their stingers…

This finger motion was accompanied by shooting/missile sounds.

This is what happened when I asked him to please stop being so silly and go get the ball and try to score a goal.

Not exactly what I meant by “get in the goal.”

Touchdown? What the…?

The best part of the soccer game?

Watermelon and orange slices at half-time….

And the “tunnel” at the end of the game. (Which means snack time is here again!)

One down, 10 games to go.

First of all, he’s adorable. I miss the days of cute soccer. Where you just watch and laugh!! And at the end, you get a treat!! Everything is so competetive now at our house.

Enjoy your next 10 games. Hope it continues to sunshine. Soccer games can sometimes be so COLD!

Oh my gosh, come check my blog out today, I did the same sort of post about Kolby!!!
Remember The Crane pose from Karate Kid?? Yeah, daddy taught him that…who knew it was useful when being a soccer forward…? Strange. 🙂

At least he was on the field…not my Jamison. He is too cute! Tell him that I would love the snacks too.

    Very cute!
I wonder how many soccer/little league/ etc I have attended in my life, what with son, grandson, and students who begged me to go to their games…

You need to start planning now for what you’re going to do when he becomes all serious and mature.

The kid makes me laugh. I love the kid.

What’re you gonna DO when his antics stop?

Do you think they’ll ever stop?

    Perish the thought Viv.

    Perish it.

    10 more? Oh, goodness.

This is why my hubby will be doing the team sports. I will be mad that the kiddos are goofing off, and he will be telling them what to do.

At least he had a good time, right?

He is so cute and such a boy! This takes me back 10 years when my son was playing soccer and either picking his nose or looking up at the sky and also wondering what the snack after the game was going to be. 🙂

    Oh memories.

I loved bunch ball. It was never so sweet as when the boys all squished together pushing the ball down the field.

    Love the goalie picture!

Yep, we were the same way with soccer. Halfway through the season Jack decided he’d rather play football than soccer and started tackling others. Even those on his team. He ended up having to sit out quite often after that!

My 5 year old would raise her hand and tell the coach, “it’s hot out here, can I take a break”.

    Ahhh the joys of childhood!

Yep, that sums up soccer here too 🙂 Evie’s first year at age 6 she was always chasing after the moths or butterflies she spotted somewhere far away. I also enjoyed your walk to school with Grant – sounds very familiar!

I did the soccer thing, I did. I called my girls daisy pickers. I imagine I don’t have to explain to you how they came upon that nickname. I was not very good at being a soccer mom…

Oh how I miss soccer. He’s so adorable in his little uniform!

Don’t feel bad, when my son played his first year, he was too busy having light-saber battles (complete with sound effects) to pay attention to the game.
