Who says my kid is an under-achiever…?

November 5, 2010 12 Comments

On the same day that Mitch came home with a certificate that he made honor roll, and Conner came home with an honor roll certificate and a “Teacher’s Choice” award…..
Devin came home with this award from his chemistry teacher.

He said it was because of the second criterion, so I guess it could have been worse.

I’m so proud. pfft.

Those are the teachers who care, the ones making learning fun. Go Devin!

    OK – – – as a TEACHER I’m a bit disturbed by this award.

First of all, I wouldn’t “award” a student with anything that wasn’t positive.

Secondly, though the teacher may be trying to discourage some of these behaviors with a bit of humor, by giving an AWARD for them, he/she is actually BEGGING for the kids to do them.

Anyway, I’d say Devin is very bright if he figured it out and WHY.

You go Devin – – – this teacher thinks you are GREAT!

What teacher wouldn’t want a student to think ahead and figure something out. Sounds controlling to me.

I would have loved to have gotten this in school. He must be a great kid & the teacher must really like him because otherwise he would have gotten detention or sent to the principals office. This is a funny teacher!
