My mommy likes wine…

February 23, 2011 18 Comments

Scene: Our kitchen cleaning up after dinner. Braised short ribs with a wine reduction glaze.
Handsome Hubby holds up the remaining glaze.

HH: “Should I save this?”
Me: “You can if you want to, but I don’t need it”
HH: “How about I feed it to Corsa?” (the dog)
Me: “No, that’s a bad idea. It’s too rich.”
HH: “That’s right, and there’s wine in it.”
Grant: “Oh! Well, then you can just give it to mom….”

He was totally serious.
I’m still laughing about it 2 days later.

My kids know the same (that mommy likes wine). I remember when my oldest was around 3/4 at the grocery store and she said, “Look, mommy, wine!” Great parenting.

My youngest son was a bartender. We refer to wine as “Mommy’s medicine”. He is always ready to get mommy some more.
The hilarious part of this comment is that as he is packing his bag here at 7:00 am to go to the cabin he walks by me on the couch and says “You’re drunk”. He was just kidding. Really. Just a little joke. I have not been drinking, yet, today.

If I go to the restroom before we get a table when eating out, my 16 year old orders my drink for me…smart girl!

I caught a lot of flack for my wine consumption. Now they sit around and drink it and say, “No wonder she drank so much wine!”

That’s so funny! Sometimes I buy wine at the drugstore if I’m out running errands and now Bug calls CVS the wine store…
