Can UPS deliver some fashion sense…?

September 16, 2011 21 Comments

My guys (all of ’em) seem to have trouble putting together a decent outfit.
Things I have said:

That doesn’t match… you can’t wear stripes and plaids…
yes, but your shoes don’t go with that… your shirt is on inside-out…
I don’t care if the colors match! Basketball shorts and a button down shirt don’t work together!…

So when Grant came to me and said “I picked out my own clothes, and they match!”

I said “Yes, sweetie.  Great job! Chocolate brown on chocolate brown definitely match each other…”
How do I tell my kid that he looks like a miniature UPS delivery guy… and still praise the fact that he tried?
oy.

He is adorable! I say you print off a UPS emblem and make that his halloween costume! Just give him a package or two to carry around.

Hahaha!! You don’t! You just give him a high five. My 6 y/o dressed my 3 y/o the other day. They were both very proud. The shorts were plaid, the top had a crazy print on it… Note cute. They said, “There is orange in the shorts AND orange in the shirt!” I know how you feel!

I can’t even speak about it.. mine is wearing plaid shorts and a plaid button down and likes the way it looks.. I can only hope he gets a stain on one or the other before we have to go out so I can insist that he change!

He’s right–they do match! 🙂 Just ask him–“What can Brown do for you?”

You know, my boys have gotten much more into clothes as they’ve grown older. My oldest two dress so well now! Of course, they have a good model in their dad. My husband is huge–6’7″, 235 pounds, and he works in the financial industry, so he dresses pretty conservatively. But he loves to dress well. Have you ever seen the book Dressing the Man? Jack has it, and it’s such a fun read. Lots of photos of well-dressed men like Cary Grant and Gary Cooper. Fun!

Well at least you only have to buy a UPS patch and a clipboard to complete his Halloween costume!

Too cute! Well at least you know he is listening to you right?!

My two and a half year old son insists on dressing himself now. It is pretty bad sometimes! My 11 year old however is a little fashionista. Maybe because she is a girl!

Love the Halloween costume suggestions! His “bucket” could be an open topped box with a label and pumpkin stickers all over it.

My GROWN stepsons (living with us) still can’t match colors or appropriate pieces. I gave up – as long as they’re dressed in non-shredded clothing and everything is covered that should be covered than they can figure it out on their own.

Oh, a good laugh right before bed — I’ll go to bed with little ups boys dancing in my head. I think he’d be adorable in anything–matched or not.
