Garlic was on my shopping list. While shopping I noticed it was on sale, 3 for $1. We love garlic and use it a lot.
You know who doesn’t like garlic? Vampires.
So I stocked up and incorporated it into my Halloween decor.
I had an apothecary jar that was holding big cinnamon sticks.
I took those out and placed a packed of silica gel on the bottom to absorb any moisture. Click here to read more about that tip.
I used moss to cover the packet, then added several heads of garlic, some plastic spiders and a single pair of plastic vampire fangs.
Ta-da. Easy-queasy.
I like that this decoration will actually get used up too. Happy Halloween!

What a great idea. And I love the jars!

You are SO funny. Your garlic looks wonderful (and there’s that brilliant silica gel tip again!).
I have a collection of crosses (hmmm. . .sounds kind of cheesy when I write it out like that). Anyhow, it’s a big collection I’ve been building for 10 years. They comprise most of the art in my living room. When we moved into this house and I was working on hanging them all, my husband said, “Well, at least we should be well protected from vampires.”
Maybe that’s why I like you so much–your sense of humor reminds me of Jack’s! I think dry humor is indicative of a very keen mind.
(See a pic of my vampire protection here if you like: http://www.impartinggrace.com/2011/09/room-for-living.html).
Hope you have a great weekend!

You and your honey need to try and get away ASAP. I know it’s so much easier said than done.

LOL… it looks like a Vamp sorta melted in the jar and all that’s left is the teeth 😉

I think you bangs are cute!
I bought a pair of shoes last week and I took that little packet out and put it in my junk drawer because I remembered that you said to keep them but i couldn’t remember why.

What a cool idea with the garlic!! I never would have thought of that. The spiders are a cute addition, too. You’re so creative!
I have never been to a wine tasting, but always wanted to. We vacationed earlier this year in Asheville, NC and *almost* got to do a wine tasting at the Biltmore Mansion. Then I got sick. :o( Not the best time to go wine tasting. Maybe another time. BTW – I don’t think the bangs are that bad! You looked beautiful!

I love me some garlic! Don’t you like vampires, viv? JK will be so disappointed.
OF course I love what you did with the jars. But the spiders kinda creep me out since they look real…not that I’m a freak baby about spiders. Just snakes.
Anyway, I love the pic of you from 2007. And you can TOTALLY rock some bangs. Quit being so hard on yourself!

Really cute, but the spiders are almost too realistic. Love your ideas.
And about the wine tasting….Go! Get-outta-here! You live in California for a reason. Remember?

I like that you put the garlic in there that will get used. Way to be green! The spiders might creep me out a little. I would probably think they were real out of the corner of my eye. Perfect for Halloween.
