No more sugary drinks… (I don’t care how convenient their location might be.)

September 14, 2012 9 Comments

When we go camping or on a road trip, I treat it as the special occasion that it is and I buy drinks and snacks that I would not normally buy.  I am not a sugary drink/soda kind of  mom.

One of the drinks we had on our last camping trip were these SoBe Orange-Carrot juice blends.  I didn’t buy them, I don’t even know where they came from, but Grant loved them.

He recently finished off the last one, and has been asking for more.  (Again, unless we are going on a trip, I don’t buy stuff like this. I’m a mean mom.)  So yesterday after school, Grant asked me if there were any more of these.  Again.

Me: Grant, there aren’t anymore.
Grant: Why don’t you buy some?
Me: Because they aren’t very good for you.
Grant: Well, they taste very good.
Me: That may be the case, but you know I don’t usually buy things like that.
Grant: (clearly not getting it that it isn’t some inventory/availability issue) But they sell it at the store.  It’s right by the wine bottles…  You’re already right there!

Geez.

Come now, I mean if it is right there!

Have you tries juicing your own carrot orange blend? Less fake sugar and still delicious. I love juicing my own creations. One of my favorite is spinach or kale with apple, plum and carrot

Tries? I have already visited the wine rack this morning… Or at least my left thumb has. Ive always secretly thought my left hand drinks to dull the pain of not being dominant.

    Tried. Haha… I win thumb.

    I don’t purchase cokes either. I don’t drink them and haven’t for about 5 1/2 years.
