I don’t believe I’ve ever had a Whoopie Pie. (Raising 4 boys, Whoopie Cushions I know… Whoopie Pies, not so much.) I know that is shocking to some of you, but I think it may be more of an East Coast thing. Growing up in California, I had never even heard of them until a few years ago. But when I saw these gorgeous Red Velvet Whoopie Pies that Kim from Sand and Sisal made for Valentine’s Day, I knew the time had come, and that I was going to need to make some of them.
I have heard people rave about how wonderful these little treats are, and that they are normally chocolate, but I love that Kim used Red Velvet. These are beautiful for Valentine’s Day, and she has a light and delicious recipe for the creme filling too. You can get the recipe for the Red Velvet cake and the creme frosting on Sand and Sisal.
I just love Kim and have shared a few of her wreath projects here before. I just recently shared her “Joy” holiday wreath and last summer shared her adorable Glass Float wreath. You can see more from this clever lady on Facebook, Google+, Pinterest and Instagram, and you can follow her on Twitter.
