Saturday Night Live is a favorite in our household… the Andy Samberg Digital Shorts in particular.
Scene: the dinner table. One of the boys is talking about how cool it would be to have a camera mounted on a remote control car, and all the things it would be good for. (The things it would be good for sound pretty lame.)
Devin: (joking) “…and it would be good for bombing the Russians…”
Mitch: (laughing) “Why are you always talking about bombing the Russians?”
Dad: “Mitch, saying it once isn’t the same as always.”
Devin: “Actually, no, I say it quite a bit.”
Dad: “Oh. Never mind then…”
Grant: “Also? It’s in Like a Boss.”
SNL originally aired the “clean version” but I don’t necessarily think it’s “safe for work” even so. It certainly doesn’t seem “safe” that my 7 year old has it memorized.
Momma is not amused.
Okay, that is so funny. I hadn’t seen that clip, but when we realize the kids are soaking it all in, even stuff we try to “keep”from them, it sure is a humbling moment. Good luck:)
Oh man! Boys! Let me tell you my daughter already know LOTS of things she probably shouldn’t 🙂 I think I suck at keeping things G rated around here, ha! While playing with my phone the other day she was watching some crazy spoof about sesame street, not made for a 2 year old!
Sometimes I really think I should pick one new heinous things per day to introduce to my child(ren) so at least I will know what to talk about with them- Last week while waiting at a stop light.. me listening to NPR and me thinking son10 is reading his book.. .” uhh mom, what is Fetish-wear” and why would you need a whip with it?” .. ~ twang~.. sound of Maddie’s head snapping to attention, only to notice that said intersection is now graced by an ” adults only store”.. with signage.. {head slap} Right there with you!
Maddie
Oh my! So I am watching the clip (half laughing/half horrified) and one of my teenagers strolls into the house with 2 of his friends. All three of them are just looking at me, so I asked if they had ever seen this video. “Yeah – like at least 10 times Mom.” Ummmm….. I think my “cool” quotient just went up, but I’m not sure that’s a good thing. LOL!
Bahahahaa!!!
Uhh.. RUH ROH!!!! 😉
My brother-in-law was staying with us for several months, and he LOVED this band (singer? band? no idea) so much that he played their songs almost constantly–and loudly. You do know they have another one called “I just had sex,” right?? And, um, another one about “…a box,” from one of the SNL Christmas shows….
The only way I kept my 5yo from noticing was watching Phineas and Ferb every.single.day. See, each episode has a song in it, plus the references are mostly for adults in my age group, so it hasn’t been so bad.
But I do feel your pain!
I though watching “The Goonies” was safe until I heard my 2 and half year old saying “Oh, SH!T”…yeah, they listen
You may not be amused but I certainly am!
That was on SNL? WOW!
I think that since it is not my child I find ti funny but if it were my child I would not be amused either haha
Hi there! I am a new reader! loving the grant stories!
Have to say I am surprised SNL ran that skit.. it seems a bit much even for them.
