September 27, 2015 5 Comments

Roasted nuts? Yes, please. They are maple glazed? Oh, for sure! They have a spicy kick to them? Woot! Wait, stop the presses… there are crispy bits of BACON mixed in there too?! Oh, hellz yes!

This yummy snack is an elevated version of your basic roasted, salted mixed nuts.
Maple Glazed Spiced Nuts with Bacon

Chances are good that you already have everything to make this tasty treat.  Fry up a little bacon, add some spices and maple syrup and you have an awesome snack for game time or anytime.  This would also be great for a hostess gift.

Maple glazed spiced nuts with Bacon bits - an elevated twist on a standard snack
Recipe type: Appetizer
Prep time:  10 mins
Cook time:  25 mins
Total time:  35 mins
Serves: 3 cups

A yummy, spicy twist on roasted nuts - add bacon and a little maple syrup
Ingredients
  • 1 lb of bacon
  • 3 cups of raw mixed nuts (you can do all of one kind, if you want.)
  • ½ cup pure maple syrup
  • ½ tsp of dry mustard (NOT prepared mustard)
  • 1 Tbsp of fresh thyme, minced (or 1 tsp of dried thyme)
  • ½ tsp cayenne pepper
  • ½ tsp Old Bay Seasoning
  • 1 Tbsp kosher salt
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350
  2. Cut bacon into small pieces and cook over medium low heat, allowing the fat to slowly render. Remove when crisp and drain on paper towels
  3. Mix dry ingredients together. Add nuts and bacon and toss together.
  4. Pour maple syrup over the mixture and gently stir until coated.
  5. Turn out onto a parchment lined cookie sheet and bake for approx 25 minutes, stirring the nuts halfway through.
  6. Allow to cool and break up into pieces

Great recipe! I wouldn’t bother adding the bacon again, as you couldn’t really taste it. I had many requests for this recioe after serving at a party. I will definitely Make it again!

      Hi Elizabeth,
I would say that it safely would keep 2 or 3 days, because of the bacon – but we’ve never had any last more than a day.

Hi Lechia, I do not know. We have never had any of it left over before…
