So Handsome Hubby and I took a little trip to Roger’s Gardens a few weeks ago. If you are not conveniently located in Orange County, you are probably not familiar with this awesome garden center, and I am sorry to hear that. However, I was close enough to snap up some of the fab Halloween colored violas that they had in stock. Who knew that there were black flowers?! How cool is that?!
The moment I saw these gorgeous little orange and black flowers I knew exactly what I was going to do with them! Make floral and pumpkin planters, of course.
So how to perch the little pumpkins in there without crushing your flowers? Simple! It does not matter what size pot you use, what kinds of plants you use, or how big the pumpkin is that you use… just scale up or down.
Start by filling a pot about 3/4 of the way up with potting soil. Add in a cup or glass right in the middle of the pot. Place the plants around it and fill in with more potting soil.
Water them in and the little glass should be sticking up a little bit higher than the soil, so it will elevate the pumpkin and not crush or crowd your new plants. Perch the pumpkin in the center and you’re done!
But don’t be like me and forget to water them. That is no bueno! Happy Halloween gardening!
