Useless, but pretty.

December 13, 2010 10 Comments

Tis the season for Stuff We Don’t Need. What could be more useless than these….?

But you know what? They’re pretty. I’d like ’em if I got them as a gift.
You know what else?

They’re cheap and easy. You’ll need a heavy duty adhesive (I like Goop), spray paint and glitter or other embellishments. I got these finials on clearance for 50 cents each and I already had the candlesticks and votive cups. Use what you have, people. Use what you have.

Glue it all together. Note: only add one votive cup (or something similar). They should be two different heights. Paint, then embellish.

Click here to see some shiny black ones I made earlier this year.

That looks like something I”d like to give my MIL and tell her to stick it somewhere. ๐Ÿ™‚

But now, Miss Vivienne, I need you to show me what you are going to DO with them.

Besides, I just spent several weeks weeding OUT and getting rid of STUFF before my move – – – so I think I’ll just enjoy these particular “things” from afar. I’ll just like looking at them over at YOUR place.

Oh Miss Connie!!! I didn’t see your comment until after I commented!!! How naughty of your – – – – but oh so funny!!! (I may have theoretically had similar thoughts at some point in time – – – hypothetically of course – – – )

OMG. How do you do it? Do you lay in bed at night and think about what you could do with a candlestick, votive and curtain rod? Well, I can’t even remember my dreams (if I even have any) and I hardly ever sleep (which could be why I drink so much) but I just can’t pretend I’m not jealous of you. Okay, I CAN pretend but I don’t have the energy….and that’s due to the lack of sleep stuff.

Jenny is right, they would be a perfect addition to my mantle which just in case you’re wondering is decorated in reds and golds this year!
