Spray paint takes Halloween into Thanksgiving…

November 4, 2011 9 Comments

I usually hate my mantel, but for Halloween I was pretty happy with it.

I really liked all of the elements and the balance the large Raven artwork helped to create for the champagne bucket full of black sticks.  Obviously I can’t leave the Raven up there, so I will need to find something else to fill that spot, but I knew that spray paint could fix those sticks.

These are the same sticks, still wedged in the same foam in the same champagne bucket.  I didn’t remove the sticks to paint them, instead I took the whole thing outside.

I put the champagne bucket into a plastic grocery bag and secured the top to protect it from the spray paint.  I used Krylon’s metallic in Caramel Latte and sprayed right over the black sticks.  When dry, I hot glued a few fabric leaves here and there on the sticks.

Now to finish the other side of the mantel.
(And to put away the rest of the Halloween stuff.  There’s a lot to put away.)

That spray paint color has been my “go-to” lately– loving the transformation! Thankful for my kids and our crazy busy wonderful life, but wishing for a few days of peace and quiet too. 🙂 I imagine I’m not alone!

Love how you changed it up Viv! And I’m with you on the blessing and privilege of being a stay-at-home mom..even though most of the time I don’t feel like I’m home a whole lot. LOL!
