What a real Valentine looks like.

February 2, 2012 18 Comments

I’m sick today.  (Like ready to go into a NyQuil induced coma, Sick Today.)

I should be posting Valentine’s Day crafts, or romantic gift ideas, etc.  Instead, here it is mid-day and I’m in sweats, have a nose like Rudolph’s and am feeling (and looking) about as romantic as the Church Lady.

All this Valentine’s Day stuff has me thinking…  and I think that a lot of this grand gesture stuff is over-rated.

This morning, Handsome Hubby let me sleep while he got Grant ready and took him to school.  He took care of everything.  Including my coffee.

It’s the little gestures like this that make me feel like every day has potential to be Valentine’s Day.  These little things, which can so often be over-looked or taken for granted, are the real, substantive expressions of love.

Do I still love chocolate, roses and wine?  Of course I do, but they are nowhere near as romantic as these little moments that help to create a life long love affair.

I hope to be back tomorrow with some craftiness.   I hope.

    Yep! That’s love.

Because anyone can spend money and buy flowers.

It’s those little things that really show that they love you.
I’ll take the little things any day of the week.

    Feel better soon =)

Oh Miss Viv…I couldn’t agree more with you on that one! After 41+ years of marriage the real clincher for me with my dh is that he is the kindest, most considerate man I’ve ever known! I’m glad you have one too!

    Feel better, sweetie!

Oh, I am sooooo with you my friend!! I feel far more loved by my hubby when he does bathtime with both kids than when he gives me flowers. LOL! I think it is just a sign of a more mature understanding of what love means…not that I don’t like flowers now and then! 😉

I am definitely a firm believer in showing love every day and finding it in the small things…this definitely qualifies. Very sweet. Flowers are nice but this shows he was really thinking of you. Hope you are feeling better soon.

I’m feeling your pain. I am sick as well. I completely agree. The little things add up so much faster then the occasional “big gesture” we celebrate our love affair everyday, it keeps the love tank full. Get feeling better!

It’s those little things that really count, eh? 2 nights ago, there was a commercial for Little Debbie snacks on the tube. I commented on how yummy they looked and promptly forgot about them. Last night, the wonderful hubster came home with a box of them. Call me amazed! He not only listened to something I said, he acted on it! EEEEEEEEEE!

That is so sweet! I’m so sorry you’re feeling bad. I hope you feel better fast.

I love little gestures like that, and MacGyver is awesome at them. Seriously, I think he does little things like that about once a day, and it always melts my (ice cold) heart.

Too bad I suck at those things.

Oh get better quick! And yes, those acts of service and kindness mean so much more to me than flowers any day.

M never leaves me love notes. Maybe I should leave this post open and he’ll get the hint.

    But we did have a date night last night and that was fun! {Get your (literally) sick mind out of the gutter}

I think i’m the only non-drinker of the cali group.
