I am a pretty creative person, and I am of the opinion that everyone has at least a little bit of creativity in them, but it often surprises me how many people will argue vehemently that they are NOT creative. Nope. Can’t do it. My mind just doesn’t work that way, etc… I think sometimes people just need a place to get started, and I wanted to share a good “starting point” with you today.
Do you love this Halloween Banner? Isn’t it cute?
On trend with the houndstooth and chevron patterns… The vintage looking papers… And all of it is from a kit!
American Crafts has a line of fun, DIY Halloween kits, decorations and embellishments that are being sold exclusively at Target. (Who doesn’t love Target!?) I invited my friend Michelle and her daughter to come over for some fun craft time to make this banner. (Note: I would like kids crafts much more if they appealed to my aesthetic… and this one does.) My boys just aren’t that interested in crafting (go figure) so it is fun to have a girl around the house!
We loved the super easy instructions, that all of the pieces were ready for us to assemble, and that it was hands on enough to be DIY, but quick and easy enough to provide almost instant decor gratification. The letters had peel and stick adhesive backing, so you don’t even need tape or glue. Literally, everything you need is included.
There is still room to make creative decisions though…
You get to decide which letters go on which paper, and in which order. Something that seemed so interesting that even Grant wanted to get in on the act. String the papers and letters and hang it up in a high profile place of honor… because you made it!
Cute, right?
There are lots of other fun items in this line from American Crafts. In addition to the Halloween Banner, there is a kit to make cute Witches’ Hat place cards, and I love this sweet paper cone Halloween Wreath. Everything you need to make it is in the kit:
The cute embellishments and stickers are awesome too. Maybe you don’t want to do a full project, but want to add a few spooky touches here and there… these are perfect! I have plans for the epoxy stickers on the right, which I will share next week, but here’s how I’ve used some of these fun Halloween labels.
I promise you, my friends, that it merely takes a steady hand to apply a sticker to a glass jar… you do not need special tools or crafting supplies to make your home look decorated and fun for Halloween. Oh! And want to talk about affordability? The prices on these items range from $5 to $10. Seriously a good deal! Remember, they are only available at Target stores in the US (or on target.com) so the next time you’re there, be sure to pick up a little Halloween fun and creativity.
Maybe this will be just what you need to realize that you are, in fact, creative… and that you just needed a jumping off point.
Happy Halloween!
Disclosure: I was compensated for this post, but all opinions are 100% my own and I never recommend anything to my readers that I don’t personally love.
hi there. My black, cream, and gold halloween banner got damaged in a water leak at my house. Wondering if you still have yours and if you’d be willing to sell it to me. If not, no worries….just thought i would ask. This is typing in all caps. I am not shouting.
Thanks,
Zerita
