Why I felt a blue chicken was necessary.

February 21, 2014 1 Comment

So a few days ago I shared a makeover I did on a little plant stand.  I put a little wooden chicken in with the flowers, but he wasn’t really showing up against the color of the house… so I thought he should be blue.

See?  Now he shows up against the house.  He was easy to paint with a simple dry brush technique and some acrylic paint.

The chicken is very rustic looking and has a lot of rough details that I didn’t want to lose.  I still wanted his crackle-like finish to show through.

dry brush paint technique

Take just a bit of paint on a stiff brush and drag it over the surface, blending as you go.  The whole chicken took me about 5 minutes, and because you use such a small amount of paint, he was dry within a minute or two.

Much better!

Sometimes you just need a blue chicken.

I think the blue chicken rocks! I also think the fact that you have Spring flowers to enjoy rocks! (Loved our snow this year, but so ready for gardening time!)
