Sunday Rewind: How I became friend’s with my husband’s ex-wife.

July 13, 2014 Leave a Comment

My birthday was a few days ago.    A year ago  I shared a very personal and emotional story about what could have been an unimaginable tragedy, and how it became a gift to two families.   Becoming friends with my husband’s ex-wife sounds insane, but I tell you, it is one of the greatest gifts I have ever received.

I love this story, and I love the post about it.  I consider it some of the best writing I’ve ever done, and the process was cathartic.

In the past year, both Michelle and I have received emails, phone calls and comments from people who deal with ex-spouses, step-children and blended family situations, all struggling to get along.  To hear them say that our story touched them, or gave them hope, or had them consider the situation from a different perspective has been a blessing to us.

When amazing things happen, we should share the good news.   How I became friends with my husband’s ex-wife.
