My “go-to” recipes for cooking outside (bonfires, tailgating, camping, etc.)

September 9, 2017 2 Comments

We tend to think of summer time as prime grilling time, but as we transition into fall we are still cooking outside, right?  It’s time for tailgate parties, and for those of us who live along the coast, we can still have beach bonfires, and we always try to take a few fall camping trips, so I thought I’d pull together my favorite recipes for cooking over an open fire.

Easy recipes for cooking over the campfire or on the grill. #camping #recipes #tailgate

These cheesy, herbed potatoes are easy to cook in foil packets, right over an open fire or on the grill.

Another one of my favorites?  This skillet cornbread.  You can prepare all of the ingredients in advance and then mix it up on the spot.

When we camp, Handsome Hubby does a lot of fishing, but even if you’re in the parking lot of your favorite stadium you can cook some fresh caught fish over the fire.  (You’ll just need to hit the grocery store for a few items on the way to the game.)

Ready for dessert?  These are super easy to cook up and eat.  Kids love them and clean up is a snap.

And we’ve all heard of toasting marshmallows, but what about Starbursts?

By the way, here’s my preferred bonfire fire pit: an old washing machine tub.  Do you tailgate?
