Saturday night we had our third annual Halloween Party. Medusa & Perseus (except it wasn’t Perseus’ night…Medusa turned him to stone.) We invite friends to come in costume and ask them to BYOB and to bring a dish of some kind to share on the buffet table. Â I used to try to do everything myself […]
Upcycle: easy DIY faux hammered metal planters (with spider web topiaries.)
I needed something tall to flank each side of our front door. Since I’m a symmetry girl, I wanted them to match. This is what I came up with: these faux hammered metal planters. And just for funzies, (since it’s Halloween and all) I thought a spiderweb topiary or two would be kind of cool.
Easy Damask Pumpkin using trashed craft supplies.
I had left over strips of paper from another project, so I took a little Mod Podge and covered a pumpkin with it. I love how it turned out!
A big evening out (for a great cause) at the Diamond and Pearl Ball.
My camera and my laptop have decided not to speak to each other at the moment. Â Â As a result, I can’t share a couple of Halloween projects I am currently working on. Â So I decided to share a charity event that HH and I attended recently. My BFF is the National Spokesperson for the […]
A floor Candelabra for Halloween.
Last year, Sandra from Sawdust & Paper Scraps made a very cool Halloween candelabra, and I really, really wanted to make one too, but didn’t get around to it.  (I met Sandra at The Haven Conference last June, and I must confess I have quite the Girl Crush on her… she is awesome!) Sandra’s is a fab tutorial on […]
The Halloween Mantel. For now.
My mantel is soooo hard to decorate.  It’s an asymmetrical wooden nightmare. I am still not happy with this, but it’ll do. I will probably continue to tweak it. I do like the sparkle of the mercury glass and silver, and I like the little ravens.  I’m still very enamored of the Raven artwork I did last […]
Halloween decor from the produce section…
…and I’m not talking pumpkins.  Garlic.  It keeps vampires away, right?  So you’re definitely going to want to have some around. I used this same little garlic/decor trick last year, and I wanted to do it again.  However, this year I knew I needed to glue the spiders to the garlic to ensure they stayed where […]
Going Batty: Making over a bare wall for Halloween.
I have a wall in my dining room that is under-done 11 months of the year… but not in October. Grant loves to help me with the placement of the bats. Â (We like to make them look like they’re swarming towards a corner of the room.) This couldn’t be easier. Â Cut some bat shapes out […]
QRTY Confusion.
Kids are pretty tech-savvy, right? Â I ask Grant for help with my iPad all the time. Â He navigates the web with the greatest of ease, knows exactly where he is (thanks to Google Earth) and manages to find episodes of Robot Chicken on YouTube (thanks to big brothers.) So I was very surprised to look […]
Great wines for your Halloween Party. (Based solely on their labels…)
Yesterday I showed you some spooky looking potions that you should NOT drink. Today I wanted to share the spooky looking potions that I found in the wine section that you CAN drink. Let me make it very clear that I have not tried any of these wines…. I am totally judging proverbial books by […]
