I almost never cooked bacon when the kids were younger.
It isn’t exactly good for you, it splatters and makes a mess when you cook it, etc. I did not realize how infrequently I cooked it until one day a 5 year old Devin came to me and asked me if he could have some of that “up down food.” This request was accompanied by a hand gesture that mimicked waves, undulating up and down. The poor kid had an extensive vocabulary, yet he didn’t know the word for bacon.
Fast forward 13 years. My baby just turned 18. Due to several scheduling conflicts, we opted for a morning celebration.
Instead of a birthday cake…? Two pounds of Birthday Bacon.
Contemplating his birthday wish. I can only assume that he wished for more processed meats.
I am so proud of the smart, funny, handsome young man my baby has become.
We love him to pieces.
However, I do agree with the birthday message one of his brothers left for him on the fridge…
And these Bacon Chocolate Chip Cookies are a hit every time I make them.
Dang, what a good looking guy! Wish we lived closer, I might lift the 18 and over dating band from Honey!
Happy birthday Devin!
load him up with those nitrites first thing in the am – to get a nutritious start to his day! ๐
very sweet.
My “little one” is 14. I love him to pieces too ๐
We love bacon, especially Caleb but rarely good it because it them makes the entire house smell like bacon. Caleb would love some bacon for his birthday too ๐
Wow…would you look at all that bacon. yummmm. Happy Birthday D! Proud Mom you are.
I need to make those cookies. Very interesting!
I’m pretty sure Jeremy would have loved birthday bacon. You’ve got a handsome guy on your hands! ๐
Awww, happy birthday!! That’s awesome that you made him bacon.
Id give my pinky finger for just a slice of that bacon…yum
That is one cake that I’d eat in its entirety!
Happy Birthday to your boy!
What a handsome guy! My 10 year old daughter wanted bacon for her bday breakfast this past May. Funny. I don’t cook bacon that much either but it sure is good. But I just can’t get on the bacon/chocolate band wagon. It just sounds gross to me. You will have to post about the cookies if you try them.
2 lbs of bacon! yum! so delicious, but can’t indulge in that stuff every day! last time i put away a fair amount of bacon i got the headache from hell. nitrate/sodium city, but the young don’t have to worry about that!

Happy Birthday Devin! I hope he liked his birthday bacon ๐ I checked out the recipe for the baconator, I think I’ll be passing on that one, but I’ve been meaning to make the bacon cookies for a while – maybe next weekend!
