Give an ugly 70’s table an update with metallic paint with the Sisters of the Wild West.

We are so excited to be guest blogging here at The V Spot!
HI!! We are Amy and Emily. We absolutely LOVE treasure hunting and finding awesome pieces of furniture that
we can restore or bring back to life, and sometimes make better than their original state!
We got this piece for FREE!
I have been dying to try this technique. I just love the look.
I thought this piece would be perfect with all of the details.
I used this “aluminum” paint by Rust-oleum. Its very smelly, but I
just love that you apply with a paint brush.
I then aged it with some glazing.
I used Ralph Lauren glaze tinted with “expresso bean.”
I love how it turned out. Thanks so much again for letting guest post here today.
We are honored and hope that you will stop by our blog an visit us @ Sisters of the Wild West.
4/19/2016 UPDATED: The girls don’t appear to blog anymore… but their lovely project can bee enjoyed right here.
Thanks, girls! I love how it turned out too!
That looks awesome!
I have seen a lot of these end tables on Craig’s List lately. I never thought they could look so good. Great job!
wow! I love this. I did the metallic but didn’t apply any type of glaze. I really love this! Great job! Love, Me http://www.youaretalkingtoomuch.com
I wish I had seen this in 1985 when my in-laws gave us 2 of those!!! Love it!!
I’m wanting to do this to an old desk I have and was wondering about the metallic paint. Is it a gloss? Thanks Lisa
Sorry, I don’t know if it was a gloss paint or not, as this was a guest post. However, I imagine that you could change it up and give it a try. That’s the great thing about paint. You can always sand it down and start over again. (Or just plain old paint over it.)
I Love THIS PIECE. I DID OUR TV WALL UNIT THE SAME WAY. ITS INTERESTING TO HEAR THAT YOU USED THE RUST-OLEUM ALUMINUM PAINT AND IT TURNED OUT JUST LIKE MINE. I USED RALPH LAUREN SILVER METALLIC PAINT AND CAN’T RECOMMEND IT HIGHLY ENOUGH. THE PAINT FLOWS ON FLAWLESSLY. I’M VERY HAPPY TO LEARN WHAT YOU USED FOR THE GLAZING BECAUSE WE USED A NUMBER OF GLAZES SO I WASN’T SURE HOW TO ACHIEVE THE SAME RESULTS AGAIN. WISH I COULD SHOW YOU OUR WALL UNIT. IT IS ON MY PINTEREST WEB SITE.
What did yiu use for a Glaze?
Did u strip iT first or just painted right over it. Did u wipe it down with soapy water?
Hopefully, THE sisters learned that there is no such thing as an “expresso” bean and there is no such drink as an “expresso”….lol
Right?! 🙂
What a data of un-ambiguity and preserveness of valuable know-how about unexpected emotions.
