Seaside decor made from Salt Dough

June 8, 2012 4 Comments

As we head into a new summer, I thought I’d do a quick recap of some of the projects I made last summer. Specifically, those I made from a basic salt dough.

I made dough starfish….

…and a wacky, free-form piece of “coral”….

See how I made this HERE

… I even made some red coral…

This was super easy. Click HERE to learn how you can make this.

…all out of dough.  Want to give it a try?  It’s easy.

Basic salt dough recipe.

2 Cups of whole wheat flour (I like texture it creates, but you can use plain flour too.)
1 cup plain salt
1/2 cup water at room temperature
Mix the salt and flour in a large bowl and then add the water. Knead the mixture for about 5-10 minutes until smooth. Cover with plastic wrap and let the dough sit for 20 minutes or so before using.

There are all sorts of things you could make out of this.
(At the very least, you could keep the kids entertained for quite a while, right…?)  🙂
