Did you go to a county fair this summer?
My neighbor Melissa said in an Instagram upload, that a county fair is the Olympics of People Watching. Oh, amen to that.
It’s also the Olympics of Fried Food.

It’s also the home of giant food…
All. Kinds. Of. Wrong. |
And if you’re going to eat bad things, you might as well drink bad things, right?

Only then can you properly evaluate the crafts and competitions…

Hooray for the textured painting of a flowering tree.
Hooray for the nostalgic photo of a photo.
Hooray for the gorgeous cake that looks like a beehive and exemplifies the Fair’s theme of Home Sweet Home.
Boo for the Girl on Fire, Hunger Games themed cake that we nick-named the Skin Graft Cake, aka the Scab Cake.
There were other crafts too. I wanted this.

A tip when going to the fair? Unless it is a car, it’s not a good idea to win anything that is bigger than you are…

Also? If you win one, there is a right way and an, um, wrong way to carry the giant stuffed animals.
I’m just sayin’…
Did you go to a fair? What is the worst thing that you ate…? (And the biggest thing you had to carry?)
I was so bummed to not go to the fair this year, but I was so sick the night we could go. Booooo. So much people watching, so little time. I like to keep track of the number of inappropriate tube tops I see.
If anyone ever wondered why so many Americans are overweight, they need only visit the County Fair…
Looks like a fun time had by all! We did not make it to our local fair this year…so sadly, I missed our version of the scab cake! Ha!
Someone had wayyyyyyy to much fun at the County Fair!!!
I’m back (kids are back in school)- whee!!!!
Bacon Bliss??? Ah ha ha ha ha…….

I haven’t been to the county fair since….I can’t even remember!! But the people watching IS fantastic!
I have never been to our local county fair, but if you saw where they held it, and the people who actually go, well then, it would make your fair look like a party on the grounds of a Ritz resort. We do however have our own “Cornfest” here in Brentwood. We are world famous! For our locally grown corn…. We stopped going a few years ago because I just couldn’t take it anymore. I could not understand where all these people were coming from! I am 100% positive that only 3% of the population of Brentwood actually attends this fair. The rest is “Fair” people. Which, you are right is the Olympics of people watching. I did take my kids to Great America Amusement park this summer, that was like a fair. The people watching was fantastic, I was perfectly happy sitting on a bench watching large people in little clothing parading around while eating their oversized fried food. I only had to tote around a medium sized stuffed animal, and I DID get my funnel cake!
My youger sister (by 15 years) went to school at Norco High and grew up there. Her name is Tracie Heth. Small world. Love your blog!
Bacon A -Fair….I’ve never seen anything like this! lol The things people cover in bacon is simply amazing and scary at the same time, but those margaritas look yummy! Btw…call me crazy but your friend looks like Eva Larue??
