I love orchids! They are a quick, easy, cheap way to have fresh flowers in your house. They’re easy to pop into different containers and have them look like a million bucks. They’re often thought of as a spring or summer flower as far as decorating goes, but adding just a few elements can make […]
Yes, yes, more pumpkins… Does it make a different that these are little guys and not from the Dollar Store…? No? These guys started out as little orange fakers. I sprayed them with Krylon’s silver metallic paint, then took a black Sharpie to add a little contrast to the stems. Then they just got dumped […]
Today we’re recovering pumpkins with neckties! I picked up a couple of neckties at Goodwill that I thought would fit in with my Halloween decor. I used a seam ripper to dismantle them and a rotary cutter to cut them into strips. With a dab of hot glue on the bottom of the pumpkins, I […]
I have lots of ideas. (Lots!) Many of them work out exactly like I thought they would. Many of them, well… don’t. I thought it would be cute to Mod Podge candy wrappers onto a Dollar Store pumpkin. And you know what…? It would have been really cute…. If it had worked. But it didn’t. […]
I bought a dress at a thrift store in the spring and I have never worn it. It was super cute and summery; sleeveless with sweet little ruffles on the front. It is sooooo NOT me. In fact, it actually started mocking me every time I opened my closet…. Really? Planning on going to […]
Another Dollar Store pumpkin transformation… faux Mercury Glass. This is sooooo dang easy. Take a cheesy fake pumpkin… Spray it black. Immediately, while it is still wet, lightly spray it with metallic silver paint. Krylon has a good one. This is outdoor paint, but any silver paint will do. Spraying the silver paint onto the […]
OK, I told ya I was on a pumpkin binge right now. I made a flannel covered pumpkin, a punker pumpkin, some pumpkin house numbers and now… a Zebra Striped Pumpkin. I may, in fact, have a bit of a pumpkin problem. Thanks to zebra print duct tape, this entire process took me about 3 […]
Fun inspiration for fall and Halloween decor using pumpkins, both real and fake.
We ripped out a whole bunch of ugly hedges beneath a real problem area by our front door. By creating a nice vignette of fall elements like gourds, pumpkins and a raven, we were able to make an ugly spot look a little bit nicer.
Um, excuse me!? First of all, where did you hear about S&M…???!!! Second, it is NOT an S&M pumpkin… It’s a Punk-In. Some black paint, leather, studs and safety pins are all you need to add a punk edge to your Halloween decor. Actually, it doesn’t feel as punk as it does sort of Edward […]
