Christmas lights and Hot Chocolate – a favorite family tradition.

December 3, 2015 Leave a Comment

We live near a neighborhood in Long Beach, California called Naples.  Naples is an island neighborhood, and in the center of the island is a loop of canals.   We have lots of family traditions this time of year, but one of our favorites is touring the canals by boat, or walking the canals up on the sidewalks […]

Thanksgiving, tablescape, centerpiece, fall, autumn, entertaining

Nothing makes me happier than having friends and family around during the holidays. The more, the merrier! (And I love, love, love how my Thanksgiving table turned out.!) Painted pumpkins, greenery from the yard and candles made it gorgeous.

Our home’s Christmas decor… better late than never.

December 23, 2011 10 Comments

The month of December has just flown by!  I haven’t had time to do all of the things I wanted to, but at the same time, I’m not stressed out at all. (Other than having my exterior Christmas decorations ripped apart due to a roof emergency…) Anyhow, I didn’t link up to any holiday “home […]

3 simple Christmas traditions to start for your kids.

December 22, 2011 11 Comments

If you do it twice, it’s tradition.  That’s kind of a family motto. The only way to start a tradition is to just start doing something.  It doesn’t have to be a big, elaborate thing.  I told you about our family Christmas tradition of going out to see lights by boat, but we also have […]

My favorite Christmas Tradition: a boat ride through Naples.

December 19, 2011 Leave a Comment

We have lots of family traditions this time of year, but one of my favorites is looking at the Christmas lights by boat. We live near a neighborhood in Long Beach, California called Naples.  Naples is an island neighborhood, and in the center of the island is a loop of canals. Each year we rent […]

This is what a present from Santa should look like.

December 24, 2010 12 Comments

As Santa prepares to wrap presents for the good little boys and girls, I thought I’d share a few things I know about Santa’s gift wrapping preferences. Santa likes simplicity. His wrapping paper should be plain red or plain green. He doesn’t care for patterns or prints. He likes a simple ribbon tied in a bow. […]

Mother’s Day Brunch Inspiration: birds, butterflies and booze. Ahhh. (decor ideas)

May 12, 2010 23 Comments

Why do I host a Mother’s Day Brunch? I’m a mom… shouldn’t I be the attendee and not the host…? Why play hostess? Because I get to do crafty things that are purely unnecessary… but they bring me joy. Crafty Joy is my Mother’s Day gift to me. Each year I have a different color […]

Always carry a corkscrew, and the wine will provide itself.

January 9, 2010 20 Comments

I love can’t live without enjoy a glass (or two) of wine each night. What I really love? Sharing a bottle of wine with Handsome Hubby. Whenever we do this, I consider it a special occasion. Therefore, each time we open a bottle together (and finish it together) I save the cork. I keep them […]
