Summer is coming. (Those of you in North Carolina don’t believe it, but I swear it’s true.) That means bathing suit time is here. I live 10 minutes from the beach and the people in this house will be expecting me to take them there pretty soon.
I let my gym membership lapse (click here or here to learn why) and I am doing the home work-out thing. I have mentioned my mental calisthenics previously, and what steps I need to go through in order to get myself, 1) to work out; and, 2) to keep it up.
I’ve been reading other women’s blog posts about this stuff, (Shawn’s take over at SERIOUSLY is hysterical) so I know I’m not alone in this struggle to balance family, health and body image.
Music is my savior when it comes to work-outs. The music I use to work-out isn’t necessarily what I would listen to in the car, etc. But if good music can make a work-out bearable, the right song at the right time is often just the shot in the arm I need to keep going.
Once a week I’m going to post the song that saved me, or some other mental trick that worked for me. They may not work for you, but hey…
Today, as my ass was dragging behind me on the treadmill (leaving little scuff marks on the treadmill and little treadmill burns on my ass), this song rotated into play on my iPod.
Oh! Thank! You!
Pump It, by the Black Eyed Peas. (And yes, it is the SpongeBob version. I prefer it to the real video, which is stoooooooooopid.)
However, it is perfect at 5.4 mph.
What works for you?
Thanks for the shout-out!
We are so much alike, this is on my “workout” on my i-pod.
Off to bike ride with Peanut.

i go running – 2.2 miles. with my ipod, but i usually have praise and worship music or chicago.
