Chocolate Mint Spinach Smoothie

April 9, 2014 8 Comments

I promise that this tastes really good!  I have a Green Smoothie recipe that I like, but I wanted a new one, so I played around and came up with this Chocolate Mint Spinach Smoothie recipe.  It isn’t a prefect replica, but it has enough minty-chocolate taste that I feel like I got a little treat instead of a dose of veggies.  (And who wouldn’t prefer a treat to a dose of veggies?!)

Chocolate Mint Spinach Smoothie

What makes this so yummy is adding the fresh mint.  Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 2 cups almond milk
  • 2 or 3 handfuls of fresh spinach leaves
  • 1 banana
  • approx 8 fresh mint leaves
  • chocolate protein powder (use amount recommended on packaging)
  • dash of cinnamon

That’s it!  Blend away!

How to make a chocolate mint spinach smoothie.

As I mentioned, I really like that this is full of spinach but tastes really chocolaty and has that kick of mint.  These smoothie recipes can have all sorts of variations too.  A few days ago we were out of bananas and I used a little plain Greek yogurt instead.  It worked just fine and was extra creamy.

Are you hooked on spinach smoothies?  What do you put in yours?

I don’t have choco protein powder. Can you recommend a substitute?

Hi Anna, I’m sorry, but I really can’t recommend a substitute. I mean, you can use regular chocolate syrup or cocoa powder with sugar, but that kind of defeats the purpose of making it a spinach smoothie… :/

I didn’t have coco protein powder so I subbed it with 1/2 tbs of organic cocao powder and a 1tbs of coconut sugar. It tastes delicious!
