Scene: Our kitchen cleaning up after dinner. Braised short ribs with a wine reduction glaze. Handsome Hubby holds up the remaining glaze. HH: “Should I save this?” Me: “You can if you want to, but I don’t need it” HH: “How about I feed it to Corsa?” (the dog) Me: “No, that’s a bad idea. […]
Check out lane temptations.
I’m in the check out lane at the grocery store. I am in Busy-Mom-Mode: putting my items onto the little conveyor belt… getting my coupons in order… ignoring the 6 year old who has been starting each of his sentences with “Hey Mom! Can we get…..?!?” I have my back to him when I hear, […]
To briefly return to the top bunk issue….
Last week, I told you that Grant got in trouble for getting up and playing on the top bunk bed. NOT allowed for the little monkey. (And also, it’s not his bed.) I warned him to stay off of it. Apparently, a warning didn’t do it for him, and he got back up there again…. […]
Stupid rhetorical questions bite me in the ass every single time.
Scene: Grant’s bedroom. His friend Jake is over to play. I hear banging noises, so I investigate. I find them both on the top bunk, with travel pillows around their necks. Grant is not allowed to get up on the top bunk. Me: “Grant! Get down right this instant! What are you doing up there!?” […]
What makes you feel better when you’re sick…?
Grant got up this morning with a fever. I gave him children’s Advil and he went back to sleep for 4 hours. I know he’s feeling better now. He got up and asked me for some apple juice, cheerios and a Phillips head screwdriver.
IT’S A WONDERFUL (time to expose your little kid to Saturday Night Live at this time in his) LIFE.
This post contains Amazon or other affiliate links. Last night I was watching It’s A Wonderful Life. Such a fabulous movie! A Christmas tradition for many, many people. We also have a Christmas tradition in that we bust out the Saturday Night Live Christmas DVD along with other holiday favorites. Grant loves this SNL DVD. […]
And then milk came out of my nose….
Scene: the dining room table. Conner is joking about possible names of his future children. (Let’s hope waaaaaaaay in the future…..) Since their last name is Brown, one would need to be careful about choosing a first name. Conner: “I’m going to name my kid Hash.” Me: “Ugh! Your father just about drove me crazy, […]
Bono’s ego is no match for a 6 year old….
Scene: the dining room table. Conner is doing homework; Grant is coloring; I’m working on stuff for a holiday boutique on Saturday. U2 comes on the ipod playlist. Grant: “Is this the Beatles?” Conner: “No, it’s U2.” Grant: “Wait…. like the internet YouTube or what…?”
The one where I’m gonna wash someone’s mouth out with soap soon….
Scene: the kitchen after school. Grant is having a snack and we are discussing his day. Grant: “Some of the kids at my school are using bad words!” Me: “Uh-oh! That’s not good.” Grant: “Yep. They’re using bad words from The Nightmare Before Christmas.” (It’s one of our Halloween movies that comes out with the […]
That would make for an interesting centerpiece…
When I picked Grant up from school on Friday, he excitedly informed me that it was now October. Grant: “…and what year comes next?” Me: (a little confused) “2011.” Grant: “No, no. What comes after October?” Me: “Oh! November comes next.” Grant: (rubbing his hands together in anticipation) “Yep! Leprechauns and turkeys!!” He has me […]
